After just over a year, Twenty One Pilots are back with the lead single ‘The Contract’ to begin
the Breach era, to continue on with the lore we all know and love. The song, that came as a complete surprise, is a blend of sound reflecting both the iconic albums Trench and Blurryface with fans expressing that “This song is like everything they’ve ever done all mashed together.”

We are immediately immersed into Tyler Joseph’s vocals, that accompanied many of us through childhood and teenage years - when listening, the emotion and commitment to the song is felt so deeply, proving the band's dedication to their work. The range of vocal technique, experimental production and even the drumming gives us a new and fresh take on the bands work but they all act as a nod to the bands previous work that we all know and love. Proving that this upcoming release is a blend of older, well-celebrated albums but you can hear the improvement in vocals and production showcasing the bands sheer talent since after all these years they are still able to create interesting and original work.

With heavy background vocals and catchy lyrics such as “I have a feeling the necromancers outside” and “And i'm just trying to stay quiet” links to the bands previously told and well composed lore - regarding spirits, manipulation and lead singer Tyler Joseph’s personal and internal struggles. The slow tempo bridge towards the end of the song that comes after lyrics “Sleep, i found” represents the succumbing of this struggle and more specifically, a lack of peace or comfort as well as ignorance and complacency - we will just have to wait until the next single so we can begin to piece together this new lore within an already innovative and creative storyline.

The accompanying music video which amassed 35k views on YouTube within less than an hour of posting appears to continue with the same, previously told storylines of Blurryface, Trench and Clancy - with similar colour themes within the music video paying homage to these titles. The well-directed, spinning and distort camera shots help to convey the raw emotion the song emits all while taking us on a journey with fans saying “I feel like the way this video is shot really captures what a Twenty One Pilots song feels like” proving mass excitement and anticipation for the bands upcoming, 7th studio album Breach that releases on the 12th of June - the band themselves announced this by stating “hello Clancy - hello Blurryface - let's finish this."

Following the release of 'The Contract', the American duo announced “another trip around North America”, naming the tour “The Clancy Tour: Breach.” General sale starts on June 20th.
About the artist

Twenty One Pilots is an American musical duo known for pushing the boundaries of genre and storytelling. Formed in Columbus, Ohio by Tyler Joseph and later joined by drummer Josh Dun, the band rose to global fame with their blend of alternative, pop, hip-hop, and electronic sounds, creating music that’s as introspective as it is anthemic. Albums like Vessel, Blurryface, and Trench showcase their signature mix of raw, confessional lyrics and bold sonic experimentation, tackling themes like mental health, identity, and self-doubt with fearless honesty.

With a fiercely devoted fanbase, explosive live shows, and visuals rich in symbolism, Twenty One Pilots have carved out a unique space in modern music. Their iconic character-driven concepts—like the persona of Blurryface, who embodies insecurity and fear—transform their albums into immersive worlds that resonate deeply with listeners. Continually evolving yet always authentic, Twenty One Pilots remain one of the most inventive and relatable acts of their generation.
